Mixed Media Paper Quilt Tutorial

I wanted to create a quilt with my own patterned paper, so I stenciled over previous painted papers and cut 1.5 and 2 inch squares to start making the design. 

To make it easier for me, I traced a diagonal on the card stock and then I glued one square on each side of that line and from then, I started gluing one on each side of those until I completed the page.

My plan was to make a card with the small panel and leave the big one for other projects cutting it into stripes, circles or squares or leave it as it is to use it as a base for a journal page or a collage.

Catalog Mini Journal Tutorial

Hi everyone! I'm here with another project for Jessica Sporn Designs.

Today I will show you on a video how I did a "mini journal" out of a catalog and watercolor paper. For the cover I also used a catalog scoring 1/2" on it's spine to insert the journal. I like the dimensions, each page it's like a large tag.

For the cover I used Jessica's Medallions Stencil  over a gelli print. 

 

 

Now I will create on the first two pages. Collage Sheets by Mary Jane Chadbourne and Nancy Baumiller

On this page I used Layered Peonies Stencil

 

On this side Squares and Circles Stencil was used

Collage with Stencils

This is my first blog post for Jessica Sporn Designs and I'm very proud to be part of her Creative Team.

 I want to share a video tutorial on how I did this collage using  Jessica's gorgeous "Garden Flowers and Leaves Stencil". First, I'll show you how I like to make my backgrounds with the Gelli Plate and then how I put the collage together.

For this Blog Hop, I did a small canvas (5" X 5"), with Jessica's Hamsa Blessing stamp as a main image and I chose Fall colors.

 

 

 

I started by applying black gesso to the canvas.

 

  Then I gelli printed a few papers with the beautiful and delicate Apple Pomegranate Stencil

After that, I stamped the Hamsa with Versamark ink and embossed it with gold over black cardstock. I applied 3 coats of Utee over it

  I "had" to use gold leaf on this process so using the same Hamsa stamp, I cut it a little bigger and then applied the variegated gold leaf

 This is what I had for my composition. I added black cardstock as a finishing touch

Collaged Folder

I'm sure all of us need many boxes, drawers and other stuff to keep organized tons of materials we have been collecting over the years. For me, folders are super necessary to organize my painted papers and all the bits and pieces I save to make collages.

I painted the manila folder (jacket) with various reds and oranges, then I glued the collage sheets I did separately .

Mixed Media Jumbo Tags

I love making tags because of the small space you work on (even these are really big). I ended up with two totally different styles as you can see and of course the colorful one is my favorite.

 

 

Paint your Dreams Journal Page

I was inspired by Christy Sobolewski to make this journal page out of collaged manila tags, (#tagology). It was a lot of fun because I love collages and making several at once in a small surface is so much easier.

 

Black And White Collage

This is a collage I did thinking of my daughter Daniela, hope she likes it.

I guess I should have said Black and White with a touch of gold....

 

Thinking Out of the Box

Sometimes while creating I find myself thinking out of the box and this time I was going to make a wonky town but that huge tree came to my mind and I finally did like a forest town, totally unexpected!!

I have to confess I'm not sure I like it but I spent so much time with the butterflies, doodling, stamping, etc. that I decided to post it.

Every paper I used is a Gelli print.
