Catalog Mini Journal Tutorial

Hi everyone! I'm here with another project for Jessica Sporn Designs.

Today I will show you on a video how I did a "mini journal" out of a catalog and watercolor paper. For the cover I also used a catalog scoring 1/2" on it's spine to insert the journal. I like the dimensions, each page it's like a large tag.

For the cover I used Jessica's Medallions Stencil  over a gelli print. 

 

 

Now I will create on the first two pages. Collage Sheets by Mary Jane Chadbourne and Nancy Baumiller

On this page I used Layered Peonies Stencil

 

On this side Squares and Circles Stencil was used

The perfect Corner Video Tutorial

There are many tutorials out there on how to make a hard cover book but it took me a long time to make "the perfect corner" so I did this one focusing on this particular topic. With this technique you can make albums, books, journals and much more. For the cover you can use several materials such as fabric, leather, paper, etc.

Mini Book Video Tutorial

I have a new VIDEO showing how I did these cute little books. I used gelli printed papers for them because you'll need a thin paper in order to be able to fold them and make them fit into each other.

  

New Handbound Journal

Hi all,

This is my last handmade journal. The covers were made out of Gelli printed papers.

Journal for Daniela

This is a journal I did for my daughter Daniela here in Canada. For those of you who have asked, I like to use "coptic stitch" to bind my books as it permits them to lay completely flat.

 

 

Journal for Valentina

This is a journal I did for my daughter. For all the covers I used Gelli printed papers and added a transparency with a photo collage to embellish the front.

This time I used a thicker paper just in case she wants to use water media.

Notebook for Valentina

I've been very busy doing a few journals and notebooks for my daughter Valentina. She is moving to Chicago and wanted to have "mommy's" handmade stuff for the University.

This is a notebook I did with "coptic stitching" (as all the others) and maybe you can recognize the pattern of the covers ??? Yes, they are very OLD Basic Grey papers .

Fabric Journal

I took an online class and this is the journal I made after it, it's like a tri-fold book and has two signatures in it. Everything was machine sewn with a very messy stitching. The signatures and buttons were hand sewn.

I dyed some of the fabrics I used and for one of the covers I used Gelli printed paper.

My First Leather Journal

I've been taking bookbinding classes here in Chile and I'm having SO much fun with them!! I already did a few samples with simple bookbinding and yesterday I finished this leather journal, which I must say, I love.
